A test of patience is always the first thing you face when in a different country and culture. I had a testing 2 hour wait when I was looking at an apartment. We had set the time at 2 but it turned out that it was only possible at 4. Instead of turning inpatient, I got time to finish "Homage to Catalonia" by Orwell. Which is a very exciting account of that event and war in general.
I even had time to visit a neighboring village "Zhou Zhuang" praised for its watery delights.
This is a picture of me at the "twin bridges". The stream runs through the whole town which reminds me somewhat of Hongcun, a similar town in Anhui province.I was fortunate enough to have some relatives here who could take me. It is an hours drive from Shanghai and made a great destination for a day trip. What is also fortunate is that I also could borrow a phone capable of writing and displaying chinese characters. It will come handy when being here for some time.
Atteneded an expat social event on wednesday and met some interesting people. Looking forward going there again next week. Met a new friend on wednesday and went out for dinner on friday. We had very interesting discussions and talked for the entire duration of the dinner. Element Fresh, a restaurant chain with western style food is a good place to enjoy dinner. Nice atmosphere and
